El Muro de las Lágrimas
El Muro de las Lágrimas (wall of tears) commemorates Isabela's past as penal colony. The wall was constructed by the prisioners that were moved there, about 300, under the supervision of the chief of the penal colony. The only material that they could use to built it were lava rocks, the result was a three meter high pile of rocks with sloping sides. The hard work and the hot sun broke the spirit of some men. The place "where the cowards died and the brave wept" is the phrase that describes it.

Elizabeth Bay
Located on the western side of Isabel, Elizabeth Bay is a marine visitor site, rich in marine and bird activity. You can find the Mariela Islets, frequented by penguins, to the north of the bay, and a labyrinth of channels and lagoons that snake in and out of an aquatic mangrove forest on the other side. In the forest you may see rays and white-tip reef sharks.

Punta Moreno
The combination of jagged lava rocks and small lagoons makes Punta Moreno one of the most memorable sites to visit in Galapagos. The place is always full of birds, including flamingos and blue herons. It is located on the west of Isabela and can be reached by land.

Alcedo Volcano
Hiking up Alcedo Volcano is one of the most difficult land based tour. It takes three to six hours to do it. The path begins on the east beach of Isabela, and leads up to the Caldera, where the largest concentration of turtles can be found, over 4000. Another beauty scene is the magnificent view that enables you, on clear days, to see the entire Island. The trip will possibly require two days.

Punta Albemarle
Because of the strategig position of Punta Albermale, at the north of Isabela, United States choose it to put a radar on it on World War II. Passing boats can see the old and abandoned radar. Albermale is the home of the largest species of Marine Iguanas on the islands, Flightless Cormorants and Sea Lions.

Punta Tortuga and Tagus Cove
Punta Tortuga is the result of the volcanic activity of Darwin Volcano. The Tool Using Mangroove Finch finds his home on the Mangroove that grows on the sides of the swimming area. This wonderful bird is endemic to Isabela and Fernandina, and uses cactus spines to explore the trees barks. When they find a good tool they keep it away to reuse it. On the south of Punta Tortuga lays Tagus Cove. Sailors of the past century scratched their ships names in the cave walls but you will not be allowed to do it. Instead enjoy a panga ride along the cliffs and watch Flightless Cormorants, Penguins and Blue Footed Boobies.

Sierra Negra Volcano
With a 10 km wide crater, Sierra Negra is the second largest volcanic crater in the world and the oldest and biggest of Galapagos. Prepare for a rainy day if you visit the crater during the wet season. To reach the site you may take the bus that stops just 10 to 20 minutes away of the crater rim.
