SANTIAGO (SAN SALVADOR)
| (Back to destinations) Puerto Egas |
| The black sand beach of Puerto Egas is a natural masterpiece of art. Over years wind and currents have carved apertures, crevices and natural bridges, leaving a wonderful sand formation that Sea Lions consider perfect for nesting. | |||||||||
| (Back to destinations) Pan de Azucar (Sugarloaf) Volcano |
| To reach the summit you have to walk 2 km on a challenging rocky terrain made with black lava. When you're up, take a look at the island that grows under your feet. | |||||||||
| (Back to destinations) Playa Espumilla |
| Located at the north end of James Bay, the brown sand beach can be reached with a wet landing. Sea turtles often lay their eggs in Playa Espumilla, so be careful where you step. You will find a two km birdwatching trail that goes inland and passes on the side of a lagoon where sometimes Flamingos can be seen. | |||||||||
| (Back to destinations) Buccaner Cove |
| Best seen from sea, the Buccaner Cove, so called because it was a popular place for 1600's buccaner's to careen their vessels, is full of amazing cliffs and pinnacles. Several species of seabirds use the pinnacles as nesting areas. | |||||||||
| (Back to destinations) Sullivan Bay |
| Sullivan Bay was fomed by a huge lava flow that solidified into a sheet that reaches the edge of the sea. The site shows uneroded volcanic formations, such as pahoehoe lava and lava bubbles. Underwater is beauty enough for snorkelling. | |||||||||
