Getting to the Islands The
only practical way to get to the islands is by plane. You have
to take the plane from Quito or Guayaquil, which means you have
to stay overnight in one of this two cities. You can also arrive
to Galapagos in your private plane. Boats that go from the continent
to the archipelago are very rare or dedicated to cargo and have
no facilities for passengers, we do not recommend this. If you
love to sail you can always travel across the Pacific Ocean
in your private boat and arrive to one of several ports in Galapagos,
many people do this. After arrival there are several ways to
travel around. The best way to visit most of the islands is
in a live aboard cruise or motor-vessel. You can also choose
a cheaper combination of day tours in boats and sleeping in
hotels. The most economic way to visit the islands is staying
in a hotel in one of two of the major cities and hiring one
